As promised

prom·ise noun \ˈprä-məs\
a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified

Kaua ma täpselt juba olen rääkinud, et tegelikult on mu ehted päriselt olemas ja inimesed saavad neid reaalselt päriselus kanda? Ehh... kaua.

How long has it been since the first time I promised a photoshoot? Well... I cannot even recall the exact date. But better late than never we managed to execute one (unbelievably exhausting) shoot just today. Team was built of two ladies, one little girl and a camera - and must I even mention, who was kicking other two's asses on posing? :)

Although there is room for improvement in product presentation, photography and modelling, I am quite happy with some pictures. And I promise :) to smile more next time.

Pictures were taken in Raadi Manor. Jewelry, modelling, half of photography - me; make-up, modelling, the rest of photography - Ketrin.
Just an intro, but if you insist - bracelet and necklace.

Bracelet, necklace and not visible :) earrings.

 Love those shoes!

 Yep, same earrings.

This slightly blurry and kind of fox-looking me is wearing bracelet and earrings.

I'll be honest with you - this picture is here only because I think my legs look good on it.

Bracelet, necklace and not-visible-never-mind-not-blogged-either-earrings.

Theoretically, there is a necklace on the picture.

If you zoom in (or take a another look at the first picture), you can also see bracelet, necklace and earrings.

Kinda vacation-ish times

KINDERGARTEN CLOSED DOT NO REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE DOT NO VACATION DAYS AVAILABLE EITHER DOT

These are the logistical challenges I face every day in July. How in the world should I manage whole month of 8 hours in the office with bored child, frustrated me and annoyed employer? I might as well just stay home from the job point of view. To save everyone's day, a full week of grandmother-grandchild quality time in the countryside was organized. After that - we'll see...

Anyway - long story short - this also means quality time between me and my beads for one full week. Set of jewelry on the pictures above was ordered by my friend to match her dress in colourful palette of white, red, green, yellow and purple. Main challenge was to find a solution matching the dress (but not to be worn exclusively with that one specific dress only) and persons' preferences. Hopefully it was accomplished. I am especially content with colour scheme, considering that when I started this set, I discovered in great disbelief that I have very little beads in pure red colour. Not kidding here! I need to go bead-shopping! So I mixed and matched all the hues of red and orange which resulted in a beautiful mild-ish red set. Rivoli colour is called siam and crystal beads padparadscha (I just love this colour - mild pinkish red; cold and warm at the same time).

The set is composed of hair pin, earrings and necklace. Necklace is asymmetric, but I could not take a decent photo of it on a flat surface, so you just have to believe me on this one. :)

Something-something

Kee on kohandatud Lisa Kan'i õpetusest. :)

My friend trusted me a Very Important Task - to make necklace for her wedding dress. For an assignment of such responsibility, I needed to dust my tools and experiment-experiment-experiment. But before I could do that, I had to finish a piece that waited for a long time. There was really not much left to do, but enough to get my mind into it. :)

It was incredibly good to bead after a long break. I can't even believe, how much I have missed it!

Necklace is adapted from Lisa Kan. It's too bad I do not have a picture showing how it fits, because it does look much better being worn. I have long planned a photoshoot featuring living beings - well, maybe now, on a beautiful springtime, I can make it happen. :)

No-time-necklace

Helevikerhall ndebele kee eelmisest aastast on näiteks minu absoluutseks lemmikuks saanud.

First of all, I would like to present my new widget - beading box. It comes in a handy size of 15x15 cm and with high (~3 cm) edges - much more convinient than common beading tray. Unfortunately it's original purpose of holding hand-made candies wore out quite fast, but it does have a new life now. :) Some left-over fabric from my daughters' jersey was used to prevent the beads rolling around. Cover with magnet closes firmly and allows more enthusiastic movement around the house. Needless to say, I am extremely satisfied with the solution. I believe the idea is from Marcia DeCoster, who has several trays simultanously in use.

As already seen from the box picture, some dark green metallic Preciosa seed beads were in the process. I love their quality - Preciosas are much more uniform than Tohos, although Japanese seed beads are considered to be of top quality. Anyway - a gift was needed for the birthday-girl and I have realized that a nice long rope is one of the most versatile items there can be. I use my ndebele necklace very often. Still loving it. :)

The necklace is made in the same technique as in previous post, tutorial from Kelly Wiese; tangles feature Indian hand-made beads and some crystal for the sparkle.

Midnight blues

We have had some beautiful winter days with shining sun in the clearest sky this week. I think this is one of the best features of Estonian winter, although it usually comes with -20 C and lower, therefore I prefer to enjoy it from the warmth of my house. :) BUT it also offers an excellent opportunity to take pictures under good light conditions and I am pretty sure most of Estonian beaders used the opportunity. I am looking forward to see all the blogposts that eventually follow. :) I myself desided to pull it together and finish a piece I was working on.

The chain in this necklace is very nice, fast and easy to do. Tutorial from Kelly Wiese's book Beaded Allure. I think it is especially useful for necklaces/pedants when metal chain seems too delicate and beaded rope too robust.

There are few vintage rhinestones and Japanese seedbeads used. I love the color - true midnight blue. :)

Spark it up!

Säravat käesolevat aastat! :)

Uue aasta puhul alustasin minagi olulisemalt säravamalt kui tavaliselt kombeks.

Käevõrule lisatud kaunist kinnist olen pikalt oma varudes soojendanud. Oleks ilmselt edasigi soojendanud, kui poleks lugenud Lori Andersoni blogi Pretty Things, kus ta nimelt toob esile, et milleks, MILLEKS soojendada neid imeilusaid asju - ega nad karbis kedagi ja midagi kaunimaks tee. :) Tuline õigus! Muuseas, täna peaks avanema ka 5th Blog Soup Party, millele plaanisin ennast üles anda; loodan fortuuna soosingu peale, et osaleda saaks. :)

I wish everyone a sparkling year of 2012! :)

To celebrate new year, I myself started up a little more shiny than usual. :) While beading previous bracelet, I developed an idea in my mind how to make a part of the pattern into a continuing chain. Unfortunately it did not realize as I wanted - the result was too stiff. So I did a lovely RAW bracelet instead using lots of sparkling Czech fire-polished beads and lovely silver Toho seed beads in size 15/0.

Clasp used in the bracelet has been in my stock for a while. I suppose it could have stayed there for an even longer period of time, but I happened to read Lori Anderson's blog Pretty Things, where she points out that it is most unuseful to buy beautiful pieces and then keep them all to yourself. Bullseye! It really will not make anyone or anything prettier when kept in a box in a drawer. :)

By the way - registration for the 5th Blog Soup Party should open today. I really hope Fortune will be on my side and I can participate. So I am currently keeping my eye on the blog to sign up when I have a chance.
